The Sri Lanka–Japan Business Council (SLJBC), together with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), organised a Business Promotion Mission to Tokyo and Osaka, Japan from 25th to 30th September 2025, coinciding with Expo 2025 Osaka — held from 13th April to 13th October 2025 under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. The mission aimed to promote trade, investment, and tourism between Sri Lanka and Japan, facilitate B2B linkages with potential Japanese business partners, provide delegates with access to high-level business forums and networking events, and showcase Sri Lanka’s strengths in priority sectors to Japanese stakeholders.
In Tokyo, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Japan–Sri Lanka Business Co-operation Committee (SLJBCC) organised the “Sri Lanka–Japan Business Forum” on 29th September 2025, enabling delegates to interact with leading Japanese business conglomerates during their stay.
In Osaka, the SLJBC — in collaboration with the Export Development Board (EDB) — organised the Sri Lanka Business Forum in coordination with JETRO, connecting approximately 20 Sri Lankan exporters — spanning apparel, Ceylon Tea, spices, gems, and ICT — with potential Japanese buyers and investors. A key highlight was the inauguration of the Sri Lanka Pavilion by His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who also officiated at the “Sri Lanka Day” celebrations featuring cultural performances. The SLJBC strategically leveraged the Expo to promote Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, with a focus on investment-friendly policies, tourism, and expanding opportunities in the graphite and IT services sectors with Japan.
